Driver App: Another Step in the Right Direction

Transforming Travel in Conakry – A new internally developed booking app by S&TI is making travel in the Guinean capital simpler, safer, and faster.

Moving our personnel in Conakry is a challenge. The metropolitan area has a population of three million, with complex traffic patterns. An added difficulty is that the rapid expansion of the Simandou project means that there are more and more people to transport from point A to point B, in complete safety.
Previously, when someone needed to travel, they arranged a trip with the driver dispatch team, who coordinated vehicles and journeys via phone calls and WhatsApp messages. This system worked, but it lacked efficiency.

Looking to improve the process, the team worked with S&TI to develop a technological solution, drawing on different perspectives to achieve the best outcome for the business. And if this solution also helped strengthen the skills of the local team, even better.
After several months of development, the MotionTools app was launched.

Wherever they are in Conakry, passengers can request transport through the app. This request is then sent to drivers in our live-tracked passenger transport fleet. Based on their location and availability, drivers can accept or decline trips, allowing for a more flexible response to demand.

The S&TI Perspective

“With the expansion of the Simandou project, we needed a safer and more efficient way to move personnel in Conakry while optimising our vehicle fleet. We introduced a new booking app for drivers, which has streamlined operations and enhanced the safety of our teams on the ground.”

The Customer Perspective

“The application has been a game-changer for our dispatch operations. It allows us to assign drivers in real time, ensuring the fastest response to every request. We are thrilled with the results, and so are our customers.”

Not only has the application proved popular with users—it’s been live for less than a year, and more than 10,000 passengers have already used it—but local teams of dispatchers and drivers have developed new skills in operational agility, allowing them to anticipate changes in demand and traffic patterns.
