Celebrating Guinea, together

With more than 40 nationalities represented at our sites, Guinea’s Independence Day, celebrated on October 2, was a true moment of sharing. This was the opportunity to celebrate Guinea and its traditions, culture, as well as our individual stories.

From Conakry to the port of Morebaya, all the way to the Beyla mine site, employees gathered to celebrate Guinea’s cultural heritage. The flavors of the four natural regions, along with songs, dances, and traditional attire, set the tone for the day, offering countless opportunities to connect, learn, and come together.

For many Guinean employees, this celebration is also an opportunity to introduce others to — or help them rediscover — the country’s rich culture.

"This celebration allows us to share who we are. It’s always a pleasure to see our colleagues discover our traditions, our music, and our cuisine."

Throughout the day, the celebrations created opportunities for colleagues from different regions of the country to come together. It was a tangible way to embody the curiosity, openness, and respect that are at the heart of our daily interactions.

For some international employees, this immersion goes far beyond cultural discovery.

"What strikes me every year is how everyone is invited to participate. You can really feel a genuine desire to share and introduce others to Guinean culture."

This spirit of sharing reflects our Wontanara values, which are deeply rooted in our organization. Based on respect, active listening, and solidarity, this spirit reminds us that everyone has a place within the collective.

In a project that brings together women and men from all over the world, this way of working together naturally aligns with our values. It encourages openness toward others, respect for differences, and the creation of an environment where everyone can contribute and learn from one another.

Through this celebration, cultures came together, experiences were shared, and new connections were forged. It was a beautiful illustration of the Wontanara spirit and of what unites us beyond our differences.
