In communities neighboring the Simandou project, community health is more important than ever with local populations needing more direct access to healthcare. SimFer, in partnership with Denk Pharma and AGUIPROMED, is proud to have launched a series of medical outreach days focused on raising awareness and screening for diabetes and hypertension.
Through this initiative, the goal is to bring healthcare services closer to local populations while promoting the prevention of chronic diseases, which account for more than 63% of deaths worldwide.
Over several days, medical teams travelled to five key locations along the Simandou corridor: Nionsomoridou, Kouankan, Kérouané Centre, Forécariah and Maferinyah.

In each community, activities were organised in close collaboration with local authorities and healthcare facilities. Health centres and prefectural hospitals hosted consultations, providing direct access to services for local populations.
These outreach days were designed as genuine spaces for dialogue, combining information-sharing with practical support.
Raising awareness and providing the space for dialogue was at the heart of this initiative. Participants received information on risk factors, healthy eating practices, as well as the importance of physical activity and regular medical follow-up.
The objective is to help individuals better understand these often-silent diseases and adopt the right habits to protect their health.
Know your status to act better
Beyond awareness, communities also benefited from free screenings. Medical teams carried out blood sugar and blood pressure tests, enabling people to better understand their health status.
For those diagnosed, personalised advice was provided, along with referrals for appropriate medical follow-up and, in some cases, access to medication.

A sustainable commitment to health
These activities form part of a broader, long-term approach aimed at strengthening the local healthcare system.
A follow-up plan has been established to support identified patients, in coordination with local healthcare providers. The involvement of healthcare workers and local authorities helps ensure continuity of care.
As the programme progresses, it continues to mobilise communities around key health issues while improving access to essential services.
This initiative reflects SimFer’s commitment to supporting the well-being of surrounding communities, with prevention and support at the core of its approach.
